ATLANTIS Custom PreSwim Program

The first 3 -levels focus on water orientation and beginner skills. Levels 4-8 build swimming skills and specific Water Safety.


PreSwim Level 1 - This beginner level is an introduction to the water.  The focus is on getting in the water, learning how to blow bubbles and an attempt to get your eyes wet.  Students are introduced to front and back floats, front and back glides and jumping in.  All skills are assisted.

PreSwim Level 2- This beginner level focuses on submersion.  We work on exhaling underwater and getting our eyes wet. Students work on front and back floats, front and back glides and continue to work on jumps.  All skills are assisted.

PreSwim Level 3- These swimmers are comfortable getting their face wet and with full submersion.  The focus is on mastering front floats, glide and front swim without help. Back floats and kick are still assisted.  We introduce treading water and increase our comfort with jumping in.

PreSwim Level 4 - These advanced beginner swimmers can float on both the front and back by themselves and jump in without help. The focus is now on swimming 3-5 metres on both the front and the back without any assistance. Swimmers are also introduced to side glide.

PreSwim Level 5 - These swimmers are swimming fully unassisted for a minimum of 5 metres on both the front and the back.  They can roll from the front to the back. Swimmers continue to develop side glide. These swimmers transition all skills to deeper water.

PreSwim Level 6 - These swimmers can swim for a minimum of 7 or more metres on both the front and the back.  The focus is now on front crawl development with a side breath bilaterally. These swimmers can tread water and are introduced to diving.

PreSwim Level 7- Front and back crawl technique development and increased distance is the focus for this level. These swimmers are introduced to sculling and dolphin kick.

PreSwim Level 8-T hese swimmers can swim 15 metres or more of front and back crawl.  They can dive and tread water for at least 15 seconds. These swimmers are introduced to butterfly and whip kick.  They are now ready for the next level of programs.
